Structured tests during system changes

“Our organization lacked experience of this type of structured tests and we have not had access to documented test cases. Just to produce and document different test cases felt like a manageable and clear task to hand over to an external party,” says Carsten Weber ” , CEO of Bonnier Magazine Data.

How did the handover of the assignment work to Unicus?

We had an introductory meeting where we met and got to know each other and set up a work strategy. Then we had ongoing dialogue via telephone and Skype where we answered the consultants’ questions and helped them understand our business and our system. It worked very well.

How was it to work together with Unicus consultants?

My experience was that the consultants were both very tight and good to talk to. We have had a pleasant collaboration climate and a really good conversation tone throughout the project. I also particularly noticed their ability to ask straight and precise questions in a very humble way. Although the issues were clever, they aimed in a very clear way to create understanding rather than being questionable, which meant that we communicated effectively.

What was the benefit of the delivery?

For us, independent testing was relatively new ground and it was therefore of great value to us to get the right skills into the project that could help us structure test cases. We can reuse these in different situations, for example when the system is to be upgraded or otherwise changed, to ensure that all existing functions in the system continue to function as expected. We have a complex business and there are many situation-dependent elements from when someone places an order on the web until the paid newspaper ends up in the customer’s mailbox.

Is there anything else you bring with you from the collaboration with Unicus?

The material that has been handed over to us gives us the opportunity to test our systems in a more structured way, and to deliver safer deliveries to our customers in the Bonnier Magazines business area. We will greatly benefit from that. Overall, the collaboration with Unicus was a very positive experience. Professional and pleasant consultants and good results in the delivery.
